THE CONTEXT The animal farming industry alone has been proven to create the same amount of carbon emission as the entire transportation segment and utilize one third of the planet’s fresh water resources. If each person in the US chose to eat meat-free and dairy-free one day a week, it would have the same environmental as taking 7.6 million cars off the road.

THE APPROACH

a futuristic food-truck vehicle that utilizes autonomous robots and artificial intellengence (AI) technology to provide a diverse range of accessible plant-based meals to consumers in an approachable manner

college student (22)
current diet: flexitarian

“A lot of my cultural (Asian) food contains meat so most of my friends and family consume lots of meat on a daily basis. I don’t want to give up that side of my cutlure.”
intern (24)
current diet: vegan

“Vegan food can be pricier when it comes to eating out. I can cook my own dishes at home but it is hard to find a place I can eat out with my colleagues.”
corporate worker (29)
current diet: omnivorous

“I’ve tried vegan chickens burgers and what not, but I didn’t enjoy it because I know what its supposed to taste like and the resemblence just wasn’t quite there.”

THE CHALLENGES
  1. convenience: offerplant-based options at various locations like parks and central business districts
  2. inviting space: create extendable areas of communal space for enjoying plant-based cuisine together
  3. technology: optimize AI technologies and reduce costs with recipe generation, dynamic pricing, and predictive maintenance
  4. personalization: create new dishes tailored to user preferences, moving beyond traditional meat alternatives
  5. sustainability: build with sustainable materials and features energy-efficient technology like recycled sheet steel and solar-panel covered windows

THE OUTCOME Envisioned as a solution to the growing need for a plant-based diet in the next 15-20 years, the GOPB food truck aims to help consumers accustomed to meat consumption overcome challenges such as food neophobia. The truck's convenience features facilitate a smoother transition to a plant-based lifestyle. By combining accessibility, technological innovation, and community engagement, it offers a practical and impactful approach to promote sustainable eating habits and a healthier planet.
